In a move to help support student success, Valdosta State University is partnering with Civitas Learning to more effectively use student data. Valdosta State said the partnership will allow the school to focus “even more on solving challenges and providing resources to students from enrollment to graduation.”
“During this global pandemic, we know our students are facing unprecedented challenges both in and out of the classroom. It is our job to encourage them and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment so they stay on their path to graduation,” said Dr. Rodney Carr, vice president for student success at Valdosta State. “Civitas Learning’s platform will help our teams do just that. We can use real-time data to meet the needs of our students and ensure they get the support they need, when they need it.”
With the new platform, Georgia-based Valdosta State will have access to institution-wide data insights on student success trends and initiatives. According to Civitas Learning, Valdosta State will be able to use real-time data to make policy decisions and launch outreach, as well as quickly understand the return on investment from its student success programs.
Additionally, faculty advisors will be able to use individualized student profiles embedded within a larger collaborative workflow solution to help the school’s 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The school says that this “approach will help ensure their student support is coordinated, efficient, and effective.”
The partnership is just one part of Valdosta State’s broader emphasis on student success. Prior to implementing the new technology, the school’s Division of Student Success created a model for full-time professional advising centers in all six of VSU’s academic colleges and the Honors College. The initiative expanded support to assist faculty in their role as mentors to students. The new solution will support the already existing initiative by giving staff a unified, 360-degree view of students and by proving a “scalable, transparent platform for innovation and measurably improved outcomes.”
Valdosta State University joins seven other institutions in Georgia already using Civitas Learning including the University of North Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University, and Gordon State College.
