University of Oklahoma has hired Nishanth Rodrigues as the college’s new chief information officer (CIO), effective Sept. 30.

The university said he brings “20 years of experience in strategic information technology (IT) leadership, administrative leadership and IT roles in health care.”

Most recently, Rodrigues was the CIO at the University of Mississippi since 2017. Before that, he served as the assistant vice president and chief technology officer at Michigan State University.

Rodrigues earned his Ed.D. in Education from the University of Mississippi after earning a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University. Rodrigues earned his undergraduate degree from Davenport University with a Bachelor of Applied Science.

Rodrigues replaces Chris Kobza, who had served as interim CIO since April of this year. Previously, Kobza served as the director of IT mission support. Kobza replaced the previous CIO, David Horton, who accepted a new position at Penn State after a more than 23-year career at University of Oklahoma.
