Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed Senate Bill 2459 (SB 2459) into law, allowing electronic signatures at the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA), and the Capital Development Board (CDB).

SB 2459, sponsored by State Senator Ram Villivalam and State Representative Kambium Buckner, cuts the red tape and allows the agencies to streamline transactions, delivering critical engineering projects. The DOT, ISTHA, and CDB can accept electronic signatures unless all parties involved in the transaction waive the right to use electronic signatures.

“I’m proud to sign this legislation into law, which will streamline transactions across our state agencies,” the governor said in a press release. “Illinois is committed to doing all it can to make state government more efficient and responsive to the people we serve.”

Effective immediately, SB 2459 will streamline the contracting process to ensure that “working people can get to the essential jobs that keep us moving,” Sen. Villivalam said.

“Governor Pritzker signing this bill into law symbolizes a commitment to streamlining processes and making it easier for our state agencies to interact,” Rep. Buckner said.
