Brown University has named Chris Keith as its new vice president for information technology and chief information officer (VPIT-CIO).

Keith is no stranger to the school, currently serving as its assistant CIO for enterprise applications. Keith has been with the university since 2007, when he first begin serving as the director of information technology for the school.

Over the last 17 years, Keith has progressed through a variety of positions before being named assistant CIO last year. While at Brown, Keith has helped develop an IT road map for the campus, institute an IT governance model, and advance an effective data governance model to support the information needs of the campus community.

“Over this time, Chris has become a trusted partner and valued colleague and has gained a reputation for his integrity and his dedication to the Brown University mission,” said Sarah Latham, executive vice president of Finance and Administration. “I am confident that Chris will be an effective and impactful leader who will help us leverage the momentum we have built over the last year in undertaking several key IT strategic initiatives.”

Keith replaces Sharon Pitt, who departed the school for a new role at Virginia Tech back in November 2023.
