In line with the Biden administration’s recent executive order on AI, the Department of Transportation (DoT) has launched a new opportunity for small businesses to leverage advancements in AI to improve transportation.
The U.S. Department of Transportation is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to deploy two devices that will collect weather-related transportation data.
An organization called the Smart Cities Council is at the center of many efforts to help cities to make intelligent upgrades so that they can earn the honor, and the title, of becoming a “Smart City.”
Not enough transit providers are taking advantage of Intelligent Transportation Systems, according to a Government Accountability Office study. “Most small urban and rural transit providers are not using other ITS technologies—such as automatic passenger counters or electronic fare payment—due to the cost of the technologies or because there is no perceived need,” the study said.
