The Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology (OET) this week released a new report that summarizes the opportunities and risks for AI in teaching, learning, research, and assessment based on public input.

The Department of Education announced it would cancel the Federal student debt taken on by borrowers who were defrauded by ITT Technical Institute (ITT) from 2005 through its closure in 2016, delivering $3.9 billion in relief to 208,000 people.

The Education Department released guidance this month which intended to provide strategies for the safe operation of higher education institutions, as well as address the impact of COVID-19 on higher education students, faculty, and staff. Among other issues, the guidance specifically addressed helping higher education navigate online learning in a pandemic and broadband and device access for students, faculty, and staff.
